Message from Sandy Duggan Youth Education Director
Children in
the Youth Education program that are starting preschool, the 1st grade, the
4th grade, Jr. High School or High School, will be honored in front of the
congregation on Sunday, August 10th as we celebrate Promotion Sunday. This
gives their families and the congregation the opportunity to recognize them
as they are promoted into the next level
of classes we offer: Unikins, 1st –
3rd; 4th – 6th; Uniteens; and YOU. If a child in your family is being
promoted, we hope that you can join us in this short ceremony.
KOU Night returns in August! Beginning on August 8th, Kids Of Unity are invited to participate in a fun evening of Unity-style play, learning, and social time. KOU Nights are offered on a love-offering basis. Registration, drop-off, and pick-up by parent / guardian is required, then the parents / guardians of children in 1st grade and up have a few hours free time knowing their children are in good hands at Unity Church of the Valley. Children younger than 1st grade need a parent / guardian present. Join us on the second Friday of each month from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
In order to have good communication with families at our church, the Youth Education program is holding a Registration Drive and Open House after the service on Sunday, August 31st. We would appreciate all families with children attending Youth Education services to come by the classes and make sure we have current contact and emergency information. Get to know the teachers, see the classrooms, and help us get to know more about the families of the wonderful children in our program.
Many people say they wish they had been involved in a church like Unity when they were children. One of the ways children in 1st through 6th grade can increase their understanding of Unity teachings in through the God In Me program. Offered at our church for the first time last year, God In Me is an annual program featuring a booklet of activities to be completed outside of church with parent / guardian supervision and encouragement. Each step in the booklet is signed off by the family and the teacher. When the booklet is completed, the child is honored at a completion ceremony in June. Participation in this program offers a great opportunity for children to become grounded in spiritual principles that can guide them for life.
Have a wonderful summer.
Our Mission:
We are dedicated to creating a nurturing, supportive, and loving environment that will empower our children to discover their spirituality and unfold their divine potential.

Did You Know?
Your child may bring a monetary tithe to Sunday School. For years, children have been bringing their pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills for their offering experience. This money goes to a selected charity every December.
